Welcome! Feel free to read about my Shattered Dream. I used to have it on a different web site but it seems to have vanished, so I arranged for the creation of this site which has even registered a separate easy-to-remember domain.
You can see the color pictures of Russia in my time taken by Сергей Михайлович Прокудин-Горский that I mention on the Shattered Dream page. The pictures are just amazing!
The Beinecke Library at Yale also has our family album. Those are old B&W photos, many faded and yellowed by age.
Someone has created a little slide show about me and made it available as a bit torrent. It is in the MPEG format, so you may need the VideoLAN client to watch it. The slide show comes with a link to the old version of my shattered dream page. You can ignore that link and use the one I mentioned above.
Яаков Юровский (Jakov Jurovskij/Yakov Yurovsky) was one of the thugs that murdered our family. You can read his account of what they did to us. And, by the way, I assure you, none of us survived that night. So, if anyone claims to be me or one of my sisters surviving abroad, they are liars! And if anyone claims to be our children or children of our children, they are impostors!
There is a forum full of tittle-tattle about our family, even has a section about me. It used to creep me out most of the time, mostly because they talk about me as if I was some museum specimen. But then Dad suggested that most of its participants sound like our old palace servants reborn (though many love to refer to themselves as Grand Duchesses!). Dad also reminded me that gossiping and spreading rumors about their masters is what palace servants like to do. So, it no longer bothers me as much as it used to. But rest assured, I do not post on that forum, am not even a registered member.
There also are pages that others have created about me, which is very kind of them. To see my favorite among them, click here.
